The first phase of a Bradford production company’s advertising campaign for furniture retailer Barker & Stonehouse has been hailed a success.

The four ‘superstyle your house’ adverts, currently being aired on ITV, Channel 4 and Five, are the first of a number of projects Mask Creative has been commissioned for, to support the store’s sales promotion.

After having worked with the team in the past, Mask Creative were brought in by North East advert agency Different to fulfil the production brief for an advert based around the summer sale.

Johnny Carr, Mask Creative’s director and founder, said: “Being a born and bred Yorkshireman, I am proud to have our head office, which works with branches worldwide, based in Bradford.

“Here we have some of the most talented individuals in the country to choose from, and this project was no exception. It was a great sense of achievement when it all came together – that’s when the magic happened.”

The adverts feature animations, including a jacket climbing up a sofa arm, walking cushions, moving curtains and energetic bookends.

The room’s accessories eventually move themselves into place to create the perfect room space for the furniture.

The advert was created with painstaking attention to detail, with items being moved an inch at a time and then re-shot.

Creative director Mark Martin, of Different Ltd, said: “Apart from being multi-talented, Johnny is just someone you look forward to working with.

“He’s always looking for a better, more interesting way of doing things. He’s got that rare ability that not all creative people have got – he’s organised and practical.

“I’m looking to work with people who can take the job on another 100 per cent without losing the concept – Johnny understands how to communicate and never loses sight of this.”

Mr Carr first found his passion for photography in the early 1980s at Batley Art College, had his first studio when he was 23, and has since worked with the likes of Audi, Nike and HRH The Prince of Wales.
