An uninsured driver has had his Lamborghini supercar seized during a police crackdown on traffic crime.

The 29-year-old – stopped by officers in Listerhills Road, Horton Grange – has been reported for a summons for driving without insurance.

If no-one comes back to claim the car it could be crushed, or auctioned off, with West Yorkshire Police retaining any proceeds.

The operation, in Bradford’s City ward, was also focused on anti-social behaviour and drug dealing – issues highlighted by residents at a Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting.

In a new police initiative, people who live in the ward were invited to join the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) on patrol.

NPT City ward Inspector Sean Duggan said: “At the last PACT meeting, the residents told us about the problems they were having around the illegal use of vehicles, anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.

“By working with the residents, we were able to identify the specific areas that were experiencing these issues and invite them to see the work we were undertaking on a daily basis to tackle it.”

Residents accompanying the police on Friday, saw an arrest for possession of heroin in Cottam Avenue and the seizure of a Mitsubishi Shogun.

The NPT arrested two people for possession of crack cocaine after following them from Spencer Road and another two vehicles were seized for road traffic offences.

A £90,000 Ferrari Modena seized by police in Bradford in May for not being registered as insured has been returned to its owner after he obtained valid insurance. The 40-year-old was given a £60 fixed penalty notice, six points on his licence and a £200 fine for driving without insurance.
