A family have paid heartfelt tributes to a “lovely and sociable” man who died of hypothermia after tragically falling into a stream on his way home from a pub.
Francis Gorecki, 49, was discovered dead in wet conditions only yards from his home at Crook Farm Caravan Park, Baildon Moor, an inquest heard.
He had drunk more than three times the legal drink-drive limit at The Old Glen and had refused a lift home, Bradford Coroner’s Court was told.
A thorough police investigation was started following the discovery of his body following fears the father-of-two had been attacked.
However, that investigation was dropped when it became clear his death had been “a tragic accident”, Bradford Coroner Roger Whittaker said.
Mr Whittaker recorded a verdict of accidental death.
