A paedophile who filmed himself sexually assaulting young girls has been condemned as “depraved” by a judge who warned him he faced being locked up indefinitely.

Aaron Sharp pleaded guilty to 17 offences involving child pornography and the abuse of two girls – one of whom was a toddler.

His crimes included filming and photographing his victims as he abused them.

Sharp, 30, of Westminster Terrace, Wapping, Bradford, was remanded back behind bars until he is sentenced on September 10. Judge John Potter asked the probation service to assess whether Sharp should be imprisoned as a dangerous offender.

“These are extremely serious offences. Custody is inevitable in this case. It may well be an IPP (Imprisonment for the Protection of the Public),” Judge Potter said.

An IPP would mean Sharp will stay in jail until the parole board rules he is no longer a danger to the community.

Sharp, who wore a white T-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms in the dock, appeared from the cells for yesterday’s hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

Judge Potter told him: “For this sort of depraved activity, there is a real likelihood that you will receive an indefinite sentence.”

Sharp admitted two charges of sexual activity with a child, three of sexual assault on a child under 13, one of assault on a child by penetration, five of taking an indecent photo of a child, five of taking an indecent film of a child and one of possessing 627 indecent photos of children.

Prosecutor Rupert Doswell said victim impact statements from the families of the two abused girls would form part of the Crown’s case when Sharp is sentenced.

Sharp’s solicitor advocate, Simon Hustler, conceded that the judge would have to consider the level of future danger posed by Sharp to children.

Judge Potter said he would sentence Sharp at Leeds or Sheffield Crown Courts.

Sharp has already been ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register and a Sexual Offences Prevention Order was being drafted, the court heard.
