David Howe, of Burley-in-Wharfedale is helping a national charity raise awareness of bowel cancer by presenting talks in workplaces across Yorkshire and the North West.

The 62-year-old became involved with the charity Beating Bowel Cancer after he was diagnosed with the disease in 2002 aged 55.

Mr Howe said: “When I was diagnosed it came as a real shock. Had I known the symptoms I might have been diagnosed earlier and had to undergo less intensive treatment.

“More and more companies are taking an active role in ensuring the wellbeing of their staff. The Health in the Workplace talks are an excellent way of informing employees about the symptoms of bowel cancer and how to reduce their risk.

“Furthermore the talks are free of charge, the only investment from the employer is time – 30 minutes per talk.”

Beating Bowel Cancer Health in the Workplace talks are completely free of charge and open to all organisations. For more information contact Nicola Keeble on 020 8973 0013 or email nicola@beatingbowelcancer.org.
