The second headline act for Bingley Music Live in September has been confirmed as Manchester legends James.

The weekend music festival kicks off on Friday, September 3, with a free evening of music, and continues over the Saturday and Sunday in Myrtle Park, Bingley.

James will headline the Saturday night, and they join The Enemy who have already been confirmed as the festival’s Sunday headliners.

With a career spanning three decades and a number of smash hits, including the anthem Sit Down, James are on the rise again. They originally formed in 1981 and had a number of top ten hits in the 1990s. They re-formed in 2007 and released a mini-album earlier this year, with another to follow next month.

Indie rockers The Enemy are to play their only northern festival headline performance of the year at Bingley.

Other bands confirmed include Reef, Example and Gaggle – a 24 piece all-female alternative pop choir/group.

Councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers, Bradford Council’s executive member for culture, planning and highways, said: “This is brilliant news for Bingley Music Live. The band have had a string of top 40 hits and are sure to be a hit with the crowds at Myrtle Park.”

Last year’s event was a sell-out with 40,000 attending. It was nominated in last year’s UK Festival Awards for the best medium-sized festival, best grass-roots festival and had three chances at best headline performance for Doves, The Zutons and Editors.

Tickets are £30, plus booking fee, and are on sale online with Seetickets via the Bingley Music Live website at bingleymusiclive.com, or by calling the 24-hour hotline on 0871 230 0010.
