Two new sites are being considered for a state-of-the social care and well-being centre in Keighley following a public consultation.

More than 4,000 people took part in the consultation over plans for a health and social care centre, to replace outdated premises such as the Oaks Resource Centre, Keighley Health Centre and Holycroft Surgery.

People were asked by NHS Bradford and Airedale what services should be in the centre, as well as where it should be built.

Two possible sites were proposed – the existing health centre area at Oakworth Road and a new site in Mitchell Street, off Bradford Road. During the consultation the Oakworth Road site appeared to be the favoured location but two more sites are now also being considered.

John Chuter, chairman of NHS Bradford and Airedale, said: “Progress is being made on this development and a lot of work is currently going on considering this valuable feedback from members of the public on what services they need.

“As a result of suggestions that have been made we are looking at two more sites for the new building.”

A report is being prepared for a public meeting of NHS Bradford and Airedale’s board of directors and Bradford Council’s senior management team meeting, before a decision is taken on how to best take the project forward.
