A document has been drawn up to help people with learning disabilities have more choice over their housing.
The Bradford Housing Strategy for People with Learning Disabilities is being unveiled by Bradford Council and its partners tomorrow.
The document aims to ensure people with learning disabilities have the same rights and choices as everyone else by tackling the barriers they face when trying to access housing.
The strategy aims to ensure people can get advice and support in deciding things like the type of home they want, who to live with and where. It is designed to support people to continue living where they are if they are happy, safe and able to live in settled accommodation.
Councillor Amir Hussain, the Council’s executive member for social care, said: “This strategy is a blueprint to start changing the way we support and assist people with learning disabilities access the right accommodation. It should have far-reaching benefits, including people being happier in their homes.”
