Litter louts have come under fire for turning a picnic spot into an eyesore.
A Sutton resident has hit out after visiting the site – below Lund’s Tower, near the village – on Sunday morning.
“We were confronted by this distressing sight in the course of our morning walk,” she said.
“My husband and I returned to the site in a car and cleaned up as best we could.”
They filled five large bags with rubbish in about two hours.
“The people guilty of leaving the site in this condition were prolific drinkers and smokers, prolific consumers of takeaways and barbecues and enjoyed safe sex,” said the resident, who asked not to be named.
“This is the second time in as many months that I have performed this clean-up operation. I hope by highlighting the problem that this will be the last time I have to do it.”
