Indie rockers The Enemy have been announced as the first headliner for Bingley Music Live 2010.

With two smash hit albums, the Coventry band is set to take the crowds at Myrtle Park by storm with their only exclusive northern festival headline performance of this year, when they take to the stage on Sunday.

British rock band Reef have also been confirmed for the festival, organised by Bradford Council, after recently reforming and selling out at venues across the country.

The West Country rock ‘n’ rollers, best known for hits such as Place Your Hands and Yer Old, are expected to keep the energy levels high for the weekend festival in September.

Councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers, Bradford Council’s executive member for culture, tourism and sport, said: “Last year the festival attracted sell out crowds which shows how popular the festival has become since it started in 2007.

“Bingley Music Live gets better every year. The bands revealed so far are exceptional and demonstrates how the festival is developing.

“More bands will be announced soon and will add to what is expected to be a fantastic line-up.”

British rapper Example will also be performing at the festival. His next single is expected to smash the top ten wide open after recently supporting Lily Allen on her UK tour.

This year’s festival sensation Gaggle, a 24-piece all female alternative pop choir group, will be bringing their own style to the park. This year’s festival will start on Friday, September 3, with a free night and continue over the Saturday and Sunday, in Myrtle Park, Bingley.

Last year’s event was a sell-out with 40,000 attending. It was also nominated in last year’s UK Festival Awards for the best medium-sized festival, best grass-roots festival and had three chances at best headline performance for Doves, The Zutons and Editors.
