A children’s centre providing support and play facilities for young families is expected to open its doors next month.

The centre, attached to the Warehouse youth centre on Ilkley’s Little Lane, is already taking shape and Bradford Council hopes to open the doors to parents and under fours in July.

The new facilities will be open to families from Ilkley, Addingham and further afield, says the Council, and as well as providing a safe and child-friendly space for families with young children, it will be the centre of a range of support services.

It is also hoped the extension will improve facilities and the appearance of the adjoining youth centre.

Among the services will be Family Information Services for all aspects of family and young children’s provisions, links to Jobcentre Plus and links to voluntary groups, support and local childminders. Some creche facilities will be available, although the Council says there will be no full day care on offer.

A Council spokesman said: “The Children's Centre is a very exciting building extension to the current Warehouse Youth centre and will brighten up the overall building and grounds.

“The new extension will provide some lovely safe and child friendly space for families with young children which includes an activity room with good storage, a training/meeting room and a safe outdoors play area.

“The building will also be available for use by local groups or activities supporting families with young children. We are very pleased to be offering such a lovely facility for local families in the Ilkley, Addingham and Ben Rhydding areas.”
