Bradford band Embrace have unveiled their official World Cup song - a rousing anthem telling the England squad: "There's no one you can't beat".

The quintet, who hail from Brighouse and Wyke, hope the nation will be singing along to the memorable chorus of "You know it's going to be our time/'Cause the world is at your feet".

The band's singer, Danny McNamara, 35, said he was inspired by the feeling of World Cup fever.

The song was being played on the radio for the first time yesterday at its official launch. However, it will not be released for sale until June 5.

Since it was announced last month that the indie band had been chosen to record the official song, the lyrics have been a closely-guarded secret.

The group are keeping their fingers crossed that World At Your Feet will become their first number one.

Danny, of Wyke, said: "I didn't want to get into the offside rule or Bobby Charlton. I wanted to write something that was a bit more universal.

"If you didn't know about football you could take it as more general, it could be about a loved one or a relationship or whatever. And if you do know about football there are a lot of direct references in there."

He added: "When we'd said that we wanted to do the song, it was kind of pressured and pretty scary, and my dad put it best when he said 'If you think you're up for it, then do it. If not, then don't'.

"That night I was in the bath, and I came up with the title and then it all came together really quickly."

The band were first tipped for success in the pages of the Telegraph & Argus, when they won the "demo of the month" competition months before they signed a record deal in 1996.

They have since gone on to tour the world and have three number one albums.

The boys are yet to make the song video but would love to feature cameos from the likes of Wayne Rooney and David Beckham. They are also hoping that World At Your Feet will help the England squad bring back the trophy this summer.

The singer added: "We've got as good a chance as any time we've had since 1990. We just need a bit of luck along the way."
