Skipton Bulldogs - one of Craven's oldest and most successful football teams - has officially folded, ending speculation as to whether the club may raise a team for next season.

The remaining club members are set to join Skipton Town, who are hoping to become a major force in local football by expanding their junior section.

The Bulldogs withdrew both its teams from the league last August due to a chronic lack of players but kept its committee in place in the hope they might be able to join forces with another Skipton club or find a ground of their own and start a team again.

Following talks with Skipton Town, the Bulldogs have agreed to plough their remaining funds - thought to be in the region of £1,500 - into the Engine Shed Lane club.

Bulldogs members John Beck, Brian Rudden and Jack Broadley are hoping to join the Town committee at the club's AGM tomorrow. It is hoped that others previously involved in the Bulldogs set-up will also become involved.
