A single goal condemned Thackley to their second defeat on the trot in the Northern Counties East Premier Division but the circumstances could not have been more diverse.

Last Saturday they were unfortunate after playing a full part in a 5-4 derby spectacular at Liversedge. Last night they failed to turn up with the same attitude and went down to a club they beat 2-0 away just over a week ago.

Selby won the game with a goal from Adam Wash in the 66th minute. He timed his run to slip the offside trap and as a covering defender slipped in front of him he went on to lash a shot past Matthew Everard.

"I am very disappointed, with the performance, not the result," said Thackley head coach John Boyle.

"The way we played against Liversedge took away the misery of

losing. I can't say the same about this game, we were awful.

"We face leaders Buxton on Saturday and I get paid for lifting the players and motivating them - I've got my work cut out after what I have seen."

Thackley's local rivals in the under-19s league, Eccleshill and Farsley Celtic, meet at Plumpton Park tonight (7.45).
