Keighley's own Michael Jordans are being encouraged to give it their best shot at two free basketball trials.

Bradford Council's Sport and Leisure Service has teamed up with Keighley Wildcats, Bradford Maroons and Bradford Dragons to offer trials for boys and girls aged over 13.

The first trial takes place this Saturday ( April 1) at Manningham Sports Centre with the boys showing off their skills from 12pm to 1.30pm, followed by the girls from 1.30pm to 3pm.

On Sunday the boys can slam dunk some baskets at The Leisure Centre in Keighley from 11am to 1pm.

The trials will help create a team to represent Bradford in the West Yorkshire games at Nab Wood Sports Centre on May 13 and 14, which is part of a council tournament.

Bradford Council's Head of Sport and Leisure Steve Warner said: "Basketball is getting more and more popular with youngsters in schools and these trials gives them the opportunity to show the clubs what they have got and maybe take the first step towards a professional career."

The trial is the latest activity organised by the Sport and Leisure Service as part of its b active campaign which aims to offer more sporting and leisure opportunities to residents of all ages and abilities.

Any teenagers interested in the trials should simply turn up.
