Hunter earned the chance to partner Rhodes by winning the club qualifying competition on 11 March with a nett score of 66.

Sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Lombard Trophy is now in its 12th year and annually attracts more than 100,000 golfers from across Great Britain and Ireland.

n The Bradford & District Ladies' Golf Championship is to have a new format - and a new name this year.

It will be known as 'The Bradford Championship' and will be played at Bingley St Ives on July 26, 27 and 28.

There will also be a net tournament running alongside the cross competition with eight women qualifying each competition. Both will proceed to match-play stages ending with two 'champions.' The event will be sponsored by 'Prosperity Project Management.'

"We hope that as many women as possible will enter, although 72 is the maximum. The tournament follows a set pattern taking in four local courses," said a competition committee member.

"All Bradford Clubs are welcome to send entries and it is hoped that the new format will encourage more people to enter. We hope all Lady Captains will encourage members to take part."
