Gargrave 1 Oxenhope 3 - Oxenhope played their wayinto their third League Cup Final in three years - but they left it late.

With only a minute of normal time left they looked to be on their way out of the competition, but clawed their way back to force the match into extra time.

Gargrave had taken the lead in the first few minutes after a free kick was taken ont he edge of the box. As the Oxenhope stood still, appealing for off-side, the ball was latched onto by the Gargrave striker who slotted the ball home.

After that goal the game saw wave after wave of Oxenhope attacks with Gargrave content to sit back and defend their advantage.

Oxenhope had rediscovered their quick passing gam, but could not find the vital final touch.

Oxenhope dominated play with Dan Moriarty back to his best form after injury with Joel Gallagher putting in a tireless performance.

For ninety minutes the Gargrave rearguard held firm with goalkeeper Robert Mallinder having an ionspried game.

Finally a corner fell to Scott Nelson who sliced his shot, but the miss-cued ball found its way past the despairing Gargrave defence.

Oxenhope's superior fitness ensured they had all the play in extra time.

Moriaty played a clever one-two with Chris Newman before hitting a sweet left foot shot just out of the keeper's reach.

Man of the match Joel Gallagher got the final touch to a Moriarty shot to wrong-foot the keeper and clinch the 3-1 win.

The victory sets up a final in April against Carleton or local rivals Bronte Wanderers

n Oxenhope Reserves also played out their own League Cup semi-final against Craven Old Boys, but they disappointingly went down 3-2 with goals coming from Adam Clewes and Lee Collins.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Oxenhope entertain Grindleton in the league title race and the reserves visit Embsay Reserves.
