Kirkburton 1 Steeton 0 - Steeton created sufficient chances to have won the game in the first 25 minutes, but were caught by a sucker punch with 15 minutes to go.

Manager Paul Ettenfield was left scratching his head, trying to understand how his side had lost against the Huddersfield side, a place above them in the league.

The Summerhill Lane team started energetically driving forward from the first whistle and within minutes Ricardo Falconi picked up a ricochet in the penalty box and fired a shot in, which was pushed away acrobatically by the home 'keeper. With five minutes gone Stewart Airdrie picked out Daniel Gaudiosi on the right with a through ball, and he struck his shot from just inside the box, beating the 'keeper, only to see it rebound to safety off the cross-bar.

Steeton seemed to be mastering the bumpy playing surface better than their opposition, and Falconi turned in the box, shooting straight at the advancing keeper. He saw another shot blocked at close range and a shot from Gaudiosi drifted wide.

In the second half Kirkburton came more into the game but Gaudiosi and Falconi worked tirelessly with Lee Barker using his arial strength.

Falconi rounded the keeper but the ball ran out of play before he could slide it home.

The inevitable happened when a ball was lofted over the top of Steeton back line and their striker lobbed the ball home.

Undeterred Steeton continued to push forward seeking an equaliser, Airdrie coming close with a header from Best's long throw.

Despite continued pressure they could not find an equaliser.

Tyersal Res 1

Steeton reserves had nothing to show from a fine display against an in-form Tyersal.

The locals started off the game brightly and were straight on the attack with Ashley Nettleton going close and Chris Turner firing over the bar. Keeper Lee Rogers was forced into an early save in what was only his second start of the season. Dave McManus also went close as he slid in on a loose ball and the Tyersal keeper made a fantastic block before Chris Fothergill headed wide .

With Tyersal trying to stamp their prescence on the side the Summerhill Lane side were not to be indimidated and Craig Stephens was winning the midfield battle. Both Anthony Foulger and Gareth Atkinson were in commanding form, limiting the home side were limited to long range efforts throughout the first half.

With the teams level at the break it looked increasingly likely that whoever scored first would go on and win the game and a Tyersal striker rounded Rogers to fire the Bradford side ahead on the hour mark.

Rogers then made a string of fines saves to keep the score at 1-0 and his performance earned him the man of the match award.

Despite the introduction of the lively Darren Hurt Steeton never really managed to penetrate the vistors defence and a last minute lunge from Chris Galdes was the nearest they came to scoring.

Despite the result, manager Roy Mason was delighted with the peformance put in by Steeton and with a home game against Campion hopes are high that they can follow up with a similar performance but different result.
