Horsforth: There was a low entry of 28 for the Limited Club Stableford on Tuesday as 18 ladies were playing in an Alliance at Leeds Golf Club.

Results: Division One - Silver Division 0 to 20 handicap - 1, A Croft (16) - 32 points. Division Two, Bronze One, 21 to 30 handicap - 1, C Outhwaite (28) - 40 points; 2, S Heath (23) 33; 3, S Speer (29) 26. Division Three, Bronze Two, 31 to 36 handicap - 1, C Mather (36) 33; 2, B Harfield (31) 32; 3, S Coverdale (36) 31.

The North Leeds Ladies Golf Alliance meeting was held at Leeds Golf Club on the same Tuesday where Horsforth were represented by nine pairs in the foursomes stableford.

J Greenwood and J Howson with 33 points finished in first place on the day gaining six points for Horsforth.

This was the fourth of four winter meetings and Horsforth finished in first place overall with 17 cumulative points over the four meetings bringing the cup back to Horsforth in the club's Centenary Year.

There were three clubs as runners-up tied on 12 points - Headingley, Moor Allerton and Leeds.

It seems very early but because of a very full fixture list in this the Centenary year the club's men have had to start early with their qualifiers. So on a wet and short course, but in great condition for the time of year, an entry of 73 pairs competed to qualify for the Final of the LDUGC four-ball, better-ball at Leeds Golf Club on May 31.

The scoring was as ever extremley competitive. The President, Graham Thompson, and Mick Thorpe returned an incredible medal score of 59, 13 under par, which only just secured victory by a single shot.

COOKRIDGE HALL SENIORS: After a blank day the previous Thursday because of the weather, this week's stableford competition had been eagerly anticipated and 36 seniors took part, determined to shake off withdrawal symptoms.

The spring-like conditions made a complete change from the cold of the last month and it was Clive Brook who took first place with a fine 39 points, beating Mike Garnett by just a point. Following Clive and Mike, several golfers scored 36 points and this group would have been larger had not David Drake incurred a two shot penalty for playing the wrong ball on the 12th hole. Of the 36ers, Mike Stewart had the best back nine and was rewarded with a third placing

OTLEY: With the men's competition falling victim to the weather, the ladies Coronation Foursomes was the only competition of the week.

Naz Nicklin and Pauline Lee emerged as the comfortable winners, whilst the runner-up spot was decided from several countbacks.

Results were: Winners - N Nicklin and P Lee 35 points; runner-up S Atkins and H Palmer 32 on the back nine.

Ben Rhydding: A Cocktail competition was played on February 26 and results were: 1, A Atkins and B Soppitt 51 points; 2, M Barrett and A Firth 48; 3, A Leverton and G Stone 47; 4, J Sheldon and D Beard 46; 5, R Osgerby and M Garner 45.

Four-Ball, Better-Ball on February 19:1, A Parker and I Clark 43 on back nine from; 2, T M Lockwood and M Garner 43; 3, S Yeadon and D Baker 42; 4, B Robinson and G Jackson 38; 5, T Savage and P Gaunt 38.

Individual Stableford on March 19: 1, S Yeadon 37 points (17); 2, D Baker 36 (19); 3, F Baxter 36 (17); 4, S Brown 35 (14).

The first Mixed Competition of the year took place on Sunday afternoon with an excellent turn out. These competitions are very popular with members, the format a Texas Scramble.

Bracken Ghyll: The long TTG Winter League competition will come to a climax on April 15 when the final will be contested between Chris Hainsworth and Andrew Snowden and the father/son son combination of Steve and Jack Lampkin.
