Paul Deacon, who missed last

weekend's Engage Super League

victory over Wigan Warriors, will be back in the frame for Saturday's Powergen Challenge Cup tie against Hull at Odsal.

The 27-year-old underwent major facial surgery after a sickening injury while playing for Great Britain last November.

And a blow late in the defeat by St Helens on March 17 led to his face swelling up again.

Deacon explained: "I got a blow on one of the two plates in my

cheekbone and that led to some bruising which then became

infected. My face was quite swollen and I had an operation last Wednesday.

"The surgeon removed about 15

millilitres of pus, which is apparently an extremely large amount.

"And while I was there he also removed a plate from my face,

leaving me with only one."

Deacon resumed training on Monday and said: "There were no ill-effects and I am fine now."

While the Deaconless Bulls were defeating Wigan last Friday, Hull were slumping to a record home defeat against St Helens.

But the pint-sized half-back is taking no heed of that, saying: "It is a tough draw and it will be a tough game for us. It is hard playing against a team that have suffered a bad defeat.

"I can remember when we beat Leeds five times in 2003 and people were saying it is about time that they beat us, but we just have to dismiss all that and concentrate on our own game."

Ground admission at Odsal on Saturday is only £10 (concessions £5), but for junior season-ticket holders from either club the cost is just £1.
