Bradford Park Avenue may be forced to play two games in three days thanks to Runcorn's no-show at Horsfall Stadium on Saturday.

The match had to be postponed minutes before kick-off because Runcorn officials rang to say the team coach had broken down on the motorway on the way to the match.

Avenue offered to send transport to

collect the players but Runcorn declined. Now the UniBond League have re-arranged the fixture for Wednesday, April 12.

Avenue are also due to host Ossett Town on Good Friday (April 14), followed by a trip to Blyth Spartans on Easter Monday.

But Avenue director of football Alan Hirst is unhappy with Runcorn - and the UniBond League - saying: "It seems they have rearranged this game before listening to our complaints.

"I am really annoyed about this because there is a rule in the UniBond handbook which says a team may be awarded the points in these circumstances.

"I feel aggrieved that the fixture has been rearranged before the league have fully investigated the matter. I am contacting the league to find out what they intend to do about this.

"I was at Horsfall from 10am on Saturday trying to get the pitch right and we spent money on equipment and a pump to clear the surface water.

"I must also again thank fans who volunteered to come in early to help. It was a fine day and we were all looking forward to the game."

New-look Avenue, with a number of signings waiting to make their debuts, face fellow-strugglers Gateshead tomorrow evening at Horsfall Stadium.

Phil Sharpe's men are desperate for a victory that would give them a fighting chance of staying in the Premier Division.

Hirst is appealing to fans to turn up in numbers to boost that survival bid.
