Joe Colbeck today relived the thrill of his first full City game but admitted: I should have won it for us.

The 19-year-old winger turned in a bubbly debut in Saturday's 2-2 fightback at relegation rivals Walsall.

But Colbeck, pictured, knows he could have iced the cake by scoring - and clinching a second straight

stoppage-time victory.

Colbeck had the chance to follow Joe Brown's lead with another last-gasp match-winner but saw home keeper Rene Gilmartin block a fierce drive with his legs.

Colbeck, who also fired across goal from a decent opening in the first half, said: "I really enjoyed the game but I know I could have had a couple of goals myself.

"At the end I should have played it across the keeper but I saw the space and tried to hit it low and as hard as I can.

"Marc Bridge-Wilkinson gave me a great pass and I got past my man but I suppose my execution wasn't good enough.

"But it was brilliant for us to come back from 2-0 down. We gave ourselves a lifeline with a goal at the end of the first half so we came back out brightly and we're pleased with a point.

"It feels excellent to be involved. I've waited a long time for it and now the gaffer's given me that chance I want to be in the squad more often.

"I've come on a couple of times and not done the best if I'm honest. But hopefully I've proved myself in the last few games."

Colin Todd was happy to see his troops bag a fourth point in two games to inch back into the top half of the League One table.

The City boss said: "I know we can play better but we had a young side out there.

"As a manager you have to be brave in the position we're in and I threw in Colbeck because he deserved his opportunity - and so did Brown after what he did on Tuesday.

"If you had asked people two months ago would those two be getting a chance the answer would have been 'no'.

"But they've come through and will learn from their experience and push on again even more.

"It wasn't the best of games but the most important factor at this time of the season is points. It was an excellent result in terms of coming back after conceding two bad goals."

Todd can call on top scorer Dean Windass again with his five-match ban now up. But he has no plans to give Windass a warm-up with the reserves at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.

He added: "Dean's looked after himself well over the month and he's fit so I don't think a reserve game will do him any good."
