Volunteers from the Keighley area could play a part in improving the UK's cancer and radiology services.

The Royal College of Radiologists is seeking recruits to serve on two patient liaison groups.

People from all walks of life with experience of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and radiology services are invited to apply.

Closing date for applications for the clinical oncology group -- which deals with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other non-surgical cancer treatments -- is next Friday.

And the deadline for the clinical radiology group -- which deals mainly with radiology used for diagnosing medical conditions -- is April 21.

Members will be paid full travel expenses.

A Royal College spokesman said: "We want patients to be involved in the work of the college.

"The more the medical professions can listen to all service users, the more effective they will be at responding to their needs.

"Unfortunately, in the past user-involvement has been limited to a few active patients.

"We want to increase the diversity of patient-representation groups and therefore call on patients to get involved."
