Silsden took a beating at home to NWC Division One leaders Skelmersdale last night.

The visitors opened the scoring in the seventh minute and despite an equaliser before the quarter hour, Jamie Longley rising well to head home a cross from James Gill, the home side still trailed at the break. A good chance to level early in the second half went begging and Skelmersdale went 3-1 up from the counter-attack before running in two more.

"They are a decent side but that is one of the reasons they are top of the league, said Silsden manager Andy Geary.

"They are not up there for nothing, they punished every mistake we made but we can learn from that."

Guiseley's twice-postponed West Riding County Cup semi-final against Harrogate Town at Nethermoor should get the go ahead in tonight's third attempt to get the tie played.

Farsley Celtic await the

winners, having won through to the final with a victory over Goole.

"This is not an ideal situation," said Guiseley boss Neil Parsley, after his side had played on both Saturday and Tuesday.

They will be playing their fourth game in eight days on Saturday with another UniBond Premier Division fixture.

"Our aspirations have shifted somewhat. I feel our play-off hopes in the league have now vanished but we are still in with a chance of defending our County Cup. This is our only chance of silverware."
