A PARKING area in Otley will not become rich pickings for traffic wardens .
It was feared that parking was to be stopped on Manchester Square - opposite Otley Civic Centre - after a traffic warden was seen noting car registration numbers.
Sue Cliff, a partner in Modelsport UK, Boroughgate, said: "The warden said that his manager had told him to ticket all the cars in Manchester Square, but that he wasn't happy about it."
Mrs Cliff said it was pointed out that there was no sign telling people that parking was not allowed on the square, although there were double yellow lines all round it.
She added that the square provides parking for some 15."We're losing car parking places everywhere. The library has been built on a car park, we've lost spaces in Boroughgate through traffic calming and there's the coach parking only spaces further down Boroughgate."
A spokesman for Leeds City Council said: "Resi-dents can be reassured that no parking fines will be issued in this particular area without advance warnings of any change to parking restrictions. I would reiterate that parking on yellow lines is not permitted and could result in a penalty ticket fine."
