Campion took another step on the way to claiming the championship of the Mumtaz Premier Division with a 2-0 victory at relegation-strugglers Otley Town to cut leaders Bay Athletic's lead to nine points.

Following a goalless first half, in which Otley more than matched their visitors for effort and endeavour, Campion took charge. Goals from Adie Howard and Chris Graham in the first 15 minutes of the second half ended the resistance of Town.

Brighouse Town moved to within two points of Campion after trouncing bottom-placed Heckmondwike Town 7-0.

Wibsey added to the relegation fears of Wakefield side Eastmoor who, after their first season in the top flight, look like dropping straight back into Division One.

Mark Sugden and Chris Hanney scored in the first half before John Penn made sure of Wibsey's 3-0 victory with a goal in the second period.

Tyersal put three successive league defeats behind them with a 2-1 home win over Halifax Irish. David Armitage and Scott put Tyersal two goals up before the Halifax side hit back with a goal from Steve Morley. But they failed to break down the home side's compact defence again.

South Bradford made Division One leaders Hall Green United work hard for the points they require for a return to the Premier Division.

John Moore eased the Wakefield side's nerves with a first-half goal. South Bradford could have levelled at the start of the second half when a penalty was saved by the Hall Green goalkeeper. Mathew Scarthe then netted Hall Green's second goal before a goal for Eddie Clavin for South Bradford left Hall Green hanging on to win 2-1 and celebrate promotion.

With Meltham Athletic already promoted from Division Two, the contest for the second promotion spot is wide open. Dewsbury-based Overthorpe, who were one of the favourites along with Meltham for promotion, slipped to their fifth defeat in six games when Hunsworth - with goals from Steve Oakes and Dale Wright - ran out 2-1 winners. Westbrook YMCA pressed their claim for promotion with a 2-0 win at Morley Town, Andy Brown netting both Westbrook's goals.

And Ventus/Yeadon Celtic remained in third place after four goals from Alex Cusack and one from Terry Hargreaves gave them a 5-0 win at Dynamoes. Crag Road United were also in goalscoring form with a 5-1 win over hosts Keighley Lifts.

Farnley Reserves and Otley Town Reserves booked their semi-final places in the Reserve Divisions Cup. Farnley beat Lower Hopton 5-3 and will play Brighouse Town on May 1, while Otley Town, who beat Westbrook YMCA 2-0, will play Wibsey on the same day.

Campion and Halifax Irish, whose Premier Division Cup semi-final was postponed, will now meet at Brighouse Town's ground on Saturday, April 1.
