Farsley needed three points from the visit of Ashton United to boost their play-off hopes and, with their usual

efficient and clinically methodical approach, they achieved their objective.

A lightning start saw them take the lead in electrifying style and they simply never looked back.

Two more goals were added by well-taken headers after the interval and the visitors were broken.

"It was job done and in a way that I had hoped we would win it," said delighted Celts manager Lee Sinnott.

"It was a tough-looking fixture. Ashton are a big, strong side and we knew from playing them over at their place that they were difficult opponents. But one of our strengths is beating on the door until we break opponents down.

"It was a great start to get off to, which obviously helped our confidence, but if anyone would have walked in a minute into the game and didn't know one side was in the lead, they would have had a job picking the side in front. It was that close a contest.

"But the second half went a lot better for us. Simeon Bambrook scored two excellent goals but Simon Parke and Kevin Sanasy did just as much work to unsettle Ashton's defence.

"I felt sorry for Kevin especially, as he did everything but score. Their keeper made two outstanding saves and he had one that hit the post. Sometimes it's your day, sometimes it isn't."

There were just 56 seconds on the clock when Bambrook struck. Parke helped the ball through and, when the visiting defence could not clear, Bambrook raced in to net an angled drive from the left-hand corner of the area.

Ashton's Finnish striker Andreas Bjork chased a through ball on the

quarter-hour mark and put in a cross-shot that fooled Celts keeper Paul Cuss and came back off the foot of the post.

It was a rare foray from the visitors and Farsley were soon back in cruise control.

Just before the half hour, the industrious Parke got another ball through the Ashton defence. Dominic Krief latched on to it and sent in a shot that dipped to crash against the bar. The rebound was not cleared, Sanasy picked it up ten yards out and connected with a firm strike that Ashton keeper Ashley Connor hurled himself at to make the block.

It was the first of many superb reaction saves from Connor. Before half-time he kept out a Parke header with one hand and blocked a shot from Andy Shields, who also had a follow-up shot that hit the post.

Just 13 minutes into the second half, Bambrook took a free-kick after he had been impeded outside the area and his

curling delivery was finished with a

bullet header from James Knowles.

Another break from Ashton led to a third goal in the 65th minute.

A cheaply conceded free-kick led to Martin Pemberton getting forward from his defensive role and he hung a cross high to the far side of the area.

Bambrook got good purchase on his header as he met the ball and it zipped into the net.
