Cleckheaton made the trip to east Yorkshire with a mix of first and

second team players in the pack but the likes of Ryan Piercy and Neil Gillan in the end proved their weight in gold in this well-deserved away win.

Chris Quinn and Hull's Glenn Boyd exchanged a brace of penalties before Cleck's pack drove over the line, with Lance Hamilton awarded the try.

Boyd kicked two more penalties in the first half but Mark Billington added Cleck's second try and then Rushworth crossed to extend their lead.

Danny Hague scored after some slack defence by Cleck, which Boyd converted. A Boyd penalty four minutes later reduced the deficit to three points. Quinn gave Cleck some breathing space with a penalty of his own and some strong defending ensured they survived a tense finish.

Keighley recorded their third consecutive league win - a 28-8 success at home to fourth-placed Bridlington - which eases their relegation fears in Yorkshire One.

With Keighley's forwards in excellent form, a pushover try close to half-time by No 8 Peter Schofield, converted by Johnny Harrison, put Keighley in the ascendancy.

There were further tries from wingers Richard Cavender and Jon Currie and

centre Danny McGee.

l Bradford & Bingley WILL have to finish in top spot in National League Three North at the end of this season to go up automatically.

However, any lingering threat of Otley being relegated from National League One has been extinguished with the Rugby Football Union Council's decision to

support a resolution submitted by First Division Rugby to increase the size of that section next season.

There were rumours before the RFU Council meeting that both the first and second-placed clubs in National League Three North would gain promotion, rather than the runner-up having to play-off for promotion against the second-placed club in National League Three South. However, the resolution that was passed read: "That with effect from season 2006-07, National League One shall comprise 16 clubs.

"To achieve this at the end of season 2005-06 no clubs will be relegated from National League One (for this season only) and two clubs will be promoted as usual from National League Two."
