Two timely tries from giant second-row forward Darren Wilkinson fired Queensbury into the final of the Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup after a rousing encounter with Dudley Hill at Hill Top.

Hill made a dream start when centre Alex Dickinson broke clear straight from the kick-off to put wingman Craig Tyman in with less than a minute on the clock.

Bury used the slope to good advantage through their heavier pack and, when the ball was worked to the blind side, hooker Matt Galtress spotted a gap to level the scores.

Wingman Karl Rouse was bundled into touch following excellent cover from

the eager Hill defence but they could do little to stop a punishing drive from the lurking Wilkinson out wide.

The visitors hit back in style to force a goal-line drop-out and gained just reward for constantly hammering the home

line when loose forward Gareth Walker produced an offload.

This sent scrum half Ryan Dickinson scampering over by the side of the posts, leaving stand-off Tony Huby a simple kick for the extra two points.

Queensbury was stung into retaliation and former Sheffield professional prop Johnny Bruce shipped out a short pass to his supporting stand-off Steve Eyles for a top-drawer effort.

This was soon followed by another cracker from full back Luke Brearcliffe, who pounced on a crossfield grubber kick from scrum half Carl Smith.

Rouse was able to add both conversions to put Bury into the sheds 20-10 up.

Dudley Hill repeated their first-half exploits when Alex Dickinson once again skipped clear straight from the restart to send second-row forward Lee O'Connor on a run to the uprights.

Then with Huby adding the extras, it was game on at 20-16.

The crafty Smith outpaced all-comers up the middle to ease Bury further in front and the crucial try of the game came when Wilkinson fashioned another blockbusting charge on the gallop to reach the posts.

Rouse converted both tries but with 20 minutes left on the clock it was still all to play for.

Hill showed their resolve when O'Connor crashed over after the hosts had been penalised twice in the build-up.

But that completed the scoring as Bury shut up shop to wind the clock down and book a date against old rivals Clayton at Odsal Stadium on Sunday, May 7.
