Two long-standing members and a former professional of Keighley Golf Club have died within days or each other recently.

Richard Emery was the club professional in the 1970s before moving to Sheringham Golf Club, Norfolk.

He was well respected in local circles, winning the Bradford Open Championship three times and the Yorkshire Open Championship in 1973.

Geoffrey Richardson was a long-standing member of Keighley Golf Club and gave many years service as Honorary Secretary.

He was made an Honorary Member in 1983 in recognition of his contribution to the club and was the President in 1990.

He was a director of Richardson, Hartley and Son Ltd., involved in the woollen trade and was a founder member of the Bradford Lions.

With his wife, Jeannie, he was always actively involved in club life and his skills as a pianist were often called upon to entertain members at social events.

Geoff died on Sunday, February 19 at Leeds General Infirmary.

Jack Emmott (pictured left and right) died, peacefully, at Manorlands Hospice on Tuesday, 21 February.

Jack first joined Keighley Golf Club as a junior in 1949 and competed at the highest level as a young man.

In 1957 he played for the England Youth team and in the same year won the Bradford Open Championship.

He represented Yorkshire between 1958 and 1962 during which time he also won the Bradford Amateur Championship and the Yorkshire Youth Championship.

Work and family commitments prevented him from furthering a career in golf.

In retirement, Jack recently competed again and enjoyed a string of successes as a senior and veteran player.

He was the Bradford Veterans Champion three years running from 2001 and took the Seniors Championship as well in 2003. In the same year he won both the Yorkshire Seniors and Veterans Championships and represented the county in the Senior's Team.

Both members and the former professional will be sadly missed by all their friends and fellow members at Keighley Golf Club.
