OperatorSix, one of Keighley's brightest musical hopes, is playing down its links with the town.

Material publicising the band's latest West Yorkshire gigs describes the members' origins as Bradford.

Two of the members, Darren Akeroyd and Ian Atkinson, hail from Keighley while brothers Adam and Alex Boyce come from Bingley.

The quartet play several concerts this spring to build on the success of support slots with Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller.

They have gained local radio airplay for their 2005 demo Alibi and recently recorded at Paul Weller's studio.

Fans can hear the blend of Coldplay melodic rock and Killers and Bloc Party edginess next Friday at the Vine in Leeds.

Coming up: Bar 1 Twenty, Huddersfield, March 24; Love Apple, Bradford, 30; Globe, Manchester, 31; Barrowlands, Glasgow, April 21; Attic, Accrington, 29; Cavern Club, Liverpool, July 12.

n Three-piece band Crosscut Saw plays its blues songs at the Cricketers Arms, Coney Lane, Keighley, on Tuesday.

The Leeds trio performs contemporary original songs and covers by the likes of BB King and Buddy Guy.

The the musicians have between them 45 years of experience and have played with many of the genre's greats.

They are veterans of the Colne and Burnley blues festivals and receive airplay on UK, European and American radio stations.

Along the way the band picked up a Blues Musician of the Year award and were semi-finalists in the International Blues challenge in Memphis.

n Exoterik takes its metal-rock to the Vine, Leeds, on March 16 with fellow Keighley band Aftermath and Finland's Flylow.

n Tickets for Keighley's Spectrum Blues Club are becoming as hard to find as those for the World Cup! Tickets for each concert go on sale during the previous month's Spectrum show at St Anne's Social Centre.

And the 100-plus tickets are often snapped up by regulars before going on sale to the general public the next day.

Now the club -- which tonight celebrates its first birthday -- has introduced a membership system giving priority for tickets. Tickets for the April 7 concert, by US acoustic blues duo Paul Rishell and Annie Raines, may well sell out tonight. Phone 07974 241801 if not.
