Bradford's council tax payers will see their bills rise by just over four per cent from April.
It means those living in an average Band D property will pay an annual bill of £1,146.57 - up £45.46 - although most Bradford residents will pay less.
Those in Band A, the most common in the district, will see their bills rise by £30.31 to £764.38 per year.
Bradford Council last night set its 2006-07 budget at 3.99 per cent more.
When the money needed by police and fire is added the total increase is 4.13 per cent.
All five political groups tabled their own budgets and all were rejected. It was only after five hours of secret discussions that a majority voted in favour of a compromise draft.
It will see £2.4 million of reserves used, an extra £250,000 saved on the City Hall management restructure and a £170,000 cut in the arts, heritage and leisure department.
An extra £100,000 will be spent on environmental sustainability.
