Wakefield 1 Keighley Ladies 5 - Keighley bounced back from defeat at Knaresborough with an impressive performance at Wakefield.

After surviving early pressure from the home side Midfielder sophie3 Taylor latched onto a loose ball and showed quick thinking to lob the ball over Wakefield's four-man defence, leaving striker Fatima Khatun with a one-on-one against the home goalkeeper. She picked her spot to opening the scoring with the first of her two goals.

Six minutes later Uzi Saddique nearly made it two went she shot over the bar. Maria McArdle also went close before Becky Granger went on a 50-yard run and cut inside to put Keighley 2-0 up with just 15 minutes on the clock.

Granger turned provider for the third goal, crossing into the danger area for McArdle who made no mistake.

Wakefield got on the scoresheet, but Keighley were in a rampant mood. Khatun was brought down in the area and captain Michelle Harrison made no mistake with the spot kick.

Keighley were 4-1 up and firmly in control of the game by half time, and in the second period the eased off.

Dangerous corners from Wakefield were cleared on several occasions, but at the other end Keighley were still imposing themselves on the game. Granger slotted a through ball to Khatun who rounded the keeper before sliding the ball home with her left foot.

The three points ensured Keighley retained their third place in the league and they are continuing to put pressure on the top clubs.
