AIREVILLE School pupil Melissa Greaves is continuing the tradition of cycling success in her family.

Her brother is a national champion and her grandad a former world record holder.

Now Melissa has a series of titles under her belt, having won Yorkshire and British gold medals in successive weekends.

Last Sunday, she won gold in the British School Cycling Association National Roller Racing Championships in Manchester.

She triumphed in the under-14 girls category, clocking a faster time than all the boys in the same age group.

The week before, the 13-year-old won the roller racing gold medal at county level in Halifax when she came within three hundredths of a second of equalling the Yorkshire record.

That victory has put Melissa, who rides for Bronte Wheelers Cycling Club, well on her way to becoming the best Yorkshire all-rounder at under-14 level.
