BRAMHOPE Parish Council is on the lookout for a new clerk.

Councillor Clive Fox (Con, Adel and Wharfedale) thanked Sandra Reed at the last parish council meeting for all the work and support she had given as clerk over the last four years. She was presented with a bouquet and book.

Advertisements for a replacement have already been delivered to most homes in the village, and Coun Fox says there has been a lot of interest shown so far, with several people asking for information packs and application forms.

He said: "The post of part-time clerk is very important to ensure the smooth running of the council. It is an interesting and varied job.

"The parish council is a very active one usually with a number of projects on the go at any one time. Unusually for a parish council, Bramhope also has its own cemetery which involves the clerk in a number of administrative tasks.

"It is, though, difficult to say how many hours the post of clerk entails because the workload varies so much from week to week."

Information packs are available by calling 0113 267 4360. The final date for applications is March 9.
