Tomorrow's trip to Boundary Park is going to be emotional for a trio of Cougars players as Keighley tackle Oldham in the Northern Rail Cup clash still looking for a first win.

But there will be no better place to earn it for Mick Fogerty, Darren Nixon and Terence Fitzgerald.

All three hail from the town and were playing amateur rugby there for Waterhead just a few months ago before Cougars coach Peter Roe

spotted their talent.

Centre Fogerty admits that tomorrow's fixture is a dream tie as he faces the club he

supported as a boy.

"We're all Oldham lads and so we're looking forward to this," he said.

"We know a few of their lads - like Gareth Barber, Chris Hough and James Kirkland, who are all from Waterhead too - and we were all waterboys down there when we were younger!

"All the family and friends are going to be there - along with half the town!"

The speed at which Fogerty, 25, and fellow centre Nixon, 24, have settled into the

professional game has been eye-opening.

Roe handed them an opportunity in the friendly against Batley Bulldogs last month and both impressed, each scoring a try, offering plenty of attacking threat and tough defence.

The club offered them both a contract, each got on the sheet versus the Bulls and they have continued to pose problems for Halifax and also Rochdale in their Northern Rail Cup fixtures.

"We've settled in really well," said Fogerty, whose Waterhead team-mate Fitzgerald is still trialling at Cougar Park.

"Training's been hard, a bit of a step up, but I'm used to it now and hopefully things are getting better.

"It's good that me and Darren came together as we know each other's games and played with each other since we were kids."

The Cougars are keen to improve on last Sunday's loss to Rochdale. They trailed just 18-12 at the break but were then blown away in an error-strewn second period to lose 46-18.

"We were all very disappointing," admitted Fogerty. "In the first half we matched Rochdale on attack and defence but in the second they were too strong and too fast. Oldham will be similar. We have to be going for the full 80 this week."

The Cougars have a doubt over Mark Stubley (bruised foot) so youngsters Andy and James Feather are added to the squad.
