Steeton Reserves 3 Oxenhope Reserves 4 - Oxenhope Reserves pulled off the surprise of the round when they defeated Steeton Reserves at Summerhill Lane.

Steeton fielded a strong physical team and had the best of the opening exchanges. Oxenhope's confidence started to grow as their two young strikers, Liam Gill and Chris Day, were creating all sorts of problems for the Steeton defence.

Gill could have opened the scoring when he latched onto a neat through ball from the lively Liam Dyson only to see his chip beat the keeper, but roll just wide.

A quick break from Adam Clewes down the left found Day who went on a great run, his shot also beat the keeper, but hit the woodwork.

The breakthrough came when Gill latched on to a long ball and rounded the defender. His strike from 20 yards found the top left corner and secure a 1-0 lead at half time.

Oxenhope started the second period as they had finished the first and scored their second following a great through ball from midfield player Robbie Davison which found Clewes. He beat the offside trap, rounded the keeper and stroked the ball home from a tight angle.

Straight from the kick-off the Steeton midfielder ran forward, the Oxenhope defence backed off and a rasping shot from 35 yards flew into the top corner, giving young keeper Pete Gower no chances.

Steeton raised their game and with the fresh legs of Hollindrake started to take command. A cross from the right found Hollindrake's head and the ball looped over the stranded keeper to level the tie.

The young Oxenhope side could have folded after relinquishing a two-goal lead but to their credit, they got back on top. Great determination by Davison down the left led to a perfect cross for Day to nod in from close range.

Oxenhope powered forward to kill the game off and the fourth goal came from a set piece, a cross from Davison found veteran Shaun Bonner at the far post to head home.

Oxenhope relaxed again and were punished with great individual skill from Hollindrake who brought the ball down with his chest and volleyed home to make it 4-3.

Oxenhope held firm in the final minutes to make sure of the win.

Both Oxenhope teams are now in the draw for their respective Keighley FA Cup competitions.

n This Saturday Oxenhope attempt to make it five semi-final appearances this season for the club's teams when the 1st team play their Northern Plant Hire quarter-final match at Grassington, while the Reserves face Rolls Royce at home in the league.
