Bradford companies swept the board at an annual award ceremony set up to mark the best developments in Leeds.

The 19th year of the Leeds Architecture Awards saw representatives from Robinson Architects of Shipley, Totty Construction and Pitts Wilson Electrical Limited, both of Bradford, and Quarmby Construction of Ilkley, win seven awards between them.

Robinson Architects received the People's Award for its work on the apartment building at Brewery Wharfe. The firm won an award for the Altered Building Commendation category for their work on the £7.7 million tower extension to the College of Music.

Design director Alan Soper said he was proud of the firm's achievements.

Totty Construction also won awards in the same categories for the same developments.

Phillip Brierley, chairman of Totty Construction Group, said winning the awards was satisfying. Pitts Wilson Electrical Limited, who worked on the lighting for the Telegraph & Argus building and will mark a century of trading in Bradford in 2010, won the Lighting Award category for its work on the Electric Press Building in the city centre.

Quarmby Construction of Ilkley also received two awards for the same category for the Electric Press Building.
