Guiseley 3 Witton Albion 1

Witton's spoiling tactics of going down after every challenge aided by some curious refereeing decisions saw this game meander along for an hour before bursting into life in a hectic last 30 minutes that produced four goals, two bookings and a sending off.

Mark Stuart was first on the scoresheet as he combined with Matty Smithard and tucked away the resulting ball pulled back from the dead ball line on 63 minutes to put Guiseley the lead. This was however, short-lived as Witton equalised five minutes later courtesy of Mark Peers perfectly flighted free-kick into the top corner from 20 yards.

On 72 minutes Mark Stuart's persistence paid dividends when the ball broke loose for him to put in a shot that was parried by Andy Paxton in the Witton goal and as the ball bobbled around in the six yard box Danny Forrest with an overhead volley got the decisive touch to restore the home side's lead.

Guiseley sealed the win two minutes later after being awarded a free-kick. Sam Denton's powerful shot took a slight deflection off the defensive wall, 'keeper Andy Paxton's efforts to stop the ball going for a corner only succeeded in giving Matty Smithard the opportunity to pounce and score Guiseley's third.

Striker Scott Jackson was booked for retaliating after a defender had impeded his progress by pulling his shirt. The Guiseley man was then dismissed for kicking out after again being subjected to a rumbustious challenge from Steve Connor which saw an exchange of handbags between several players before order was restored both Connor and Jackson were cautioned.

l On Saturday Guiseley travel to leaders North Ferriby while the Reserves entertain Leigh RMI (3pm).
