Guiseley AFC have been honoured by being asked by the FA to stage the FA Women's Cup in Partnership with Nationwide semi-final between Leeds United Ladies and Liverpool.

The match will take place at the UniBond League club's Nethermoor Park ground on Sunday, March 12 with a 3 pm kick-off.

Leeds United booked their place in the semi-final with a 3-1 win over Birmingham. Goals from Karen Burke, Karen Walker and England international Sue Smith proved enough for United to breeze through to a semi-final place.

They will face the Northern Premier League leaderds Liverpool.

United's higher league status means that they will go into the clash as favourites for the first time this season but their manager Julie Chipchase has warned against complacency.

Chipchase said: "I have to be pleased with the draw but no way do we think that we are already in the final. If we don't play to our best then we will be punished by the Reds. They are at the top of their league and they have some good players.

"I will be making sure our players focus only on the semi-final. It is a cup game and league positions go out of the window."

Leeds have never reached the final of the competition before and Sue Smith, who recently played for England against Sweden, said: "We are desperate to get through to the showpiece final. I want to get there so badly, so do all the team.

"We won't be silly enough to think that we have only to turn up there to win. We are on good form though and we don't fear playing anyone."

As well as Smith Leeds United have Nicola Emmanuel in the England U-21 squad and Sophie Walton, Melissa Sutcliffe, Olivia Thackray, Jessica Clarke and Sophie Clough involved in international training camnps.

Sophie Walton is the sister of Leeds United star Simon Walton.

Ticket prices for the semi-final will be £3 adults, £1 concessions (under-16s/OAPs). There is also a 50p per ticket group rate for groups of 15 or more (in advance by booking form only) and Charter Standard clubs can apply for up to 50 free tickets (in advance by booking form only).

Guiseley AFC Chairman Phil Rogerson said: "Guiseley would like to think that they have been chosen partly in recognition of their work with the local community, their recently acquired FA Community Club status and not least their support for the women's. We have an open age women's side who are sitting proudly at the top of their division in the West Riding league and we also have three junior girls teams."

"We are very proud to have been given the honour of staging this game by the FA. Our excellent volunteer workers will have an enormous amount of work to do. We have around 120 VIPS to feed in pre and post match buffets and we also have around 50 players and management to feed after the match.

"We are expecting a crowd of over 1,000 so of course we need stewards, first aiders, ball boys, car park attendants etc. Anyone interested in helping can give the club a call on 01943 873223."
