The Bradford & Bingley says it will continue to look for 'sensible' business partnerships to boost the bank's profile.

The B&B's sponsorship of Yorkshire Cricket Club is the latest step in a strategy to work with Yorkshire organisations to build a sponsorship portfolio.

The strategy has the aim of supporting sport and arts in Yorkshire while promoting the Bradford & Bingley brand.

Mike Hammond, head of corporate social responsibility, said: "We are involved in a number of projects which are based in Yorkshire but have a national presence.

"Yorkshire are one of the best-known cricket clubs and our name is going to be on the shirts and around the perimeter of grounds. It will give us a national profile. We are always looking for partnerships that make sense for us as a business."

As previously reported, key features of the three-year deal with the cricket club include the bank's branding on all player shirts, sweaters and training kit, mascots and replica shirts. It will also appear throughout the Headingley ground, the club's literature and on the website.

The bank is already committed to sponsoring the new gallery at Bradford's National Museum of Photography, Film and Television.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Bradford will visit the Bradford & Bingley's office in Bingley on Wednesday. The Right Reverend David James will make visits to enterprises and businesses throughout the Diocese to meet employers and employees and see how businesses helps the community.
