Disgruntled debutant Chris McKenna today insisted: "Deacs isn't to blame - we all are."

Paul Deacon missed two straightforward kicks as the Bulls saw their 14-match winning run grind to a halt against Harlequins.

They still needed the Great Britain ace to rescue them with a 78th-minute penalty to finish 18-18 on Saturday night but Bradford were fortunate to escape with a point after a feeble performance.

The Super League champions looked anything but as they spilled countless balls and missed tackles galore during a woeful evening at Odsal.

McKenna - who made his debut after overcoming a hamstring injury - admitted: "Our completion rate was terrible, we made too many errors and I just don't know what it was that went wrong.

"There's no way in the world anyone can blame Deacs though.

"We all got ourselves in that position and should never have had to rely on kicks.

"We should have put the game away long before that, especially at home, and there's no way we should have let them get a point.

"That's taking nothing away from Harlequins. They muscled up and put in a lot of effort."

The Aussie second-row continued: "I was quite happy with the way I went and there's something to build on there but it was disappointing from a team point of view.

"We must learn for this week, put it behind us and move on."

Salford arrive at Odsal on Friday on the back of wins over Warrington and Catalans Dragons.

The hosts were irritated by an awkward Quins defence and Bulls assistant coach Phil Veivers admitted: "They wanted to slow the game down for the majority of the match and they succeeded in that."

He also absolved Deacon of blame and said: "You can't blame goal kicks for losing a game or for losing a point. I just felt collectively it was a real bad day at the office for Bradford Bulls."
