A Shipley design group is set to branch into the worldwide interior design market.

The Robinson Design Group takes on more than 1,000 projects a year in the UK and overseas, principally in China.

Now the company, which employs 120 people at its base at Merchant's Quay, Ashley Lane, aims to offer new and existing clients with a fully-comprehensive interior design service for all build types.

The new interior design division boasts an extensive range of experience across commercial and domestic sectors.

It will be managed by Bradford-born Jackie Thompson, assisted by Dawn Hutchinson and overseen by Robinson Architects' associate director, Sarah King.

Miss Thompson said: "Robinson Interiors will give clients a full design service so their scheme has an inspired and individual look.

"We will be working on projects with our architectural and engineering colleagues within the group, but we will be developing our own clients who we will work with on an exclusive basis.

"One of my areas of expertise is creating innovative designs for interiors in the leisure industry, and together with design for commercial properties, schools and offices we are determined that our company will bring a real difference and benefit to the region and beyond." Robinson design group director, Tony Mobbs, said: "The addition of Robinson Interiors means that we can now offer our clients the complete package of architectural design related services."

Robinson Interiors already has a number of design commissions in the pipeline, including projects at All Saints School in Great Horton, Bradford, and St. Johns College, York.

The design group is currently working on projects which top the £1.5 billion mark, with more than a third of the work in Bradford.

International ventures include a tie-in with a Chinese architecture practice in the Chengdu Province.

Robinson Jizhu Fangzhong (JZFZ) now boasts projects in the country worth around £470 million, including an ambitious office block in Chengdu.
