Cross Hills Post Office has received a stamp of approval for first-class sales.
It beat off competition from 14,600 branches across the UK to take a coveted sales title in the Best Post Office Awards.
Sub-postmistress Sharon Latta received a plaque and gift vouchers valued at £2,250, at a presentation lunch at the banqueting suite in Whitehall, London, last Friday .
The Cross Hills branch had already won a regional title but Sharon was stunned when it was announced at the ceremony that the outlet had licked the opposition nationally.
She said: "When the announcement was made my mouth dropped open and I just sat there in disbelief.
"I didn't think a small rural branch like ours could possibly win against some of the huge post offices we were up against.
"I am still shocked but absolutely delighted."
Sharon began working at the village post office 22 years ago when her parents took over, and she has been sub-postmistress for the past seven-and-a-half years.
Post Office Ltd chief executive David Mills said: "The awards are a showcase for the best post offices nationwide. The record number of entries confirms how communities large and small around the country not only rely on their local post office but also appreciate and value the service they receive from our people.
"The Post Office, in turn, greatly values its customers.
"Our people are at the heart of everything we do. I am proud to pay tribute to the winners -- they deserve the accolades they are receiving, not just from the Post Office but
from their customers."
