TWO Craven runners were among the honours in the 14th Skyline Withens Fell Race on Sunday.
Barnoldswick's Mark Horrocks, of Wharfedale Harriers, finished in third place to win the top over-40 veterans' prize, while Skipton Athletics Club member Jonny Pawson was the first under-16 runner home.
A total of 274 competitors covered a seven-mile course in the Bronte fells which involved a climb of up to 1,000 feet.
The race was won by Staffordshire's Simon Bailey, who sat in behind Horrocks and Karl Gray until the famous Bronte Bridge and short steep climb to Bronte Waterfall when he kicked for the finish line.
Pawson finished 18th overall in 47 mins 17 secs. His win in the under-16s was particularly satisfying as it saw him triumph over rival Jonathan Hare. The Halifax runner had beaten Pawson in two other recent meetings including the British and Irish Junior Fell Racing Championships in Dundalk.
