City, looking for their first win in the FA Cup for six years, have slashed the prices of tickets for the first-round tie at home to Tranmere Rovers on Sunday, November 6 (3pm).

After the embarrassment of being kicked out of the competition by lowly Rushden & Diamonds at home last season, Colin Todd's boys are

desperate for a run in the cup.

And a big vocal support could work wonders for the team.

Tickets for the Sunday afternoon clash are on sale now on an unreserved basis and have been cut to £10 for adults and £5 for senior citizens and juveniles.

Todd said: "I think it is a nice gesture and one that Tranmere had to agree to.

"Traditionally the FA Cup is something that people used to support - and I would like to think that still is the case.

"It's a good thing to do, not only for our hard-core support but it may attract new fans as well. You have to remember there are no season tickets for that day.

"And look what happened the other night in the Carling Cup at Sunderland, where they cut ticket prices. They attracted 47,000 people when they could normally have been expected to get around 20,000.

"I am pleased we have drawn a team that we know a lot about. We are

looking forward to the day."

The upper tiers of the Sunwin and Carlsberg stands will be closed for the game.

The tie was originally scheduled for Saturday, November 5 but West Yorkshire Police blocked any games in the area on that day because of the planned British National Party

demonstration in Keighley.

Only Leeds United will be allowed to play in the Championship against Preston at Elland Road because that is a game set down on the fixture list.
