ON reading the publicity for Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company's production of "Seussical the Musical" over the past few weeks you may well have fallen into one of two camps.

There will be those of you with children or grandchildren who will immediately recognise the name Dr Seuss and his many stories written for, and read, by millions of children world wide.

Or you will be on the other side of the fence who, on hearing this writer's name, will say 'Who? - never heard of him'.

The names of "The Cat in the Hat", "The Grinch" and "Horton the Elephant" to name but a few, are all the principal characters in the books of Dr Seuss - short stories, written in verse with brightly coloured pictures which have entranced their readers and are favourites in many primary schools and libraries along with being a 'not too long' bedtime story.

"Seussical the Musical" is an imaginary story utilising these characters and some of the books featuring "The Cat in the Hat".

It has been brought to England from the USA to co-incide with the release of the film "Cat in the Hat" - incorporating a little bit of daring and adventure, a little bit of romance and whole lot of fun.

Following on from the imaginary world of their production of "Return to the Forbidden Planet", and the emotionally charged "Jesus Christ Superstar" The Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company were having a problem deciding on their next production - something completely opposite was once again needed. They were delighted when they chanced upon "Seussical" - a light hearted musical ideal to follow on from the success of "Superstar".

With a cast spanning the age groups from six years old, Direction by Royston Bayfield and with Catherine Sweet as Musical Director they hope that they are once again on to a winner.

Grove say to all those who do not know Dr Seuss "come along and join us and get to know his stories - we are sure you will enjoy them. To all those who do - we know you will not be disappointed".

"Return to the Forbidden Plant" left the audiences bopping in the aisles, "Jesus Christ Superstar" had them crying. "Seussical" promises to send you out smiling and humming the catchy tunes.

Don't miss this opportunity - the show runs from Wednesday, November 9, until Saturday, November 12 (including a matinee) at Yeadon Town Hall. Tickets are available from the Box Office on 0700 044 6267.
