SPECIAL measures have been brought in by the postal service to prevent damage to people's mail in the run-up to Bonfire Night.
People trying to post letters at the postboxes outside Ilkley Post Office on Station Road, have been confronted by an attachment to the boxes which prevent large objects being put into the post box.
The measures have been taken on various boxes around the country in a bid to stop vandals putting lighted fireworks into post boxes and destroying the letters inside. It is not believed there has been a particular problem with this in Ilkley in recent years.
