Wharfedale winger Simon Horsfall, pictured left, has been named National Two player of the month for September. The captain of last season's Yorkshire Under-20s, Horsfall, a student at Newcastle University, has scored five tries in four league matches, and is only the second Wharfedale player to receive this accolade.
Meanwhile Wharfedale have an away tie in the fourth round of the Powergen Cup to negotiate.
They travel to South Shields to play Westoe, who have lost both their games so far in the league below Wharfedale's, the National Division Three (North).
But they came through round three with a 33-12 win at Penrith.
A change to the cup rules this year has ended the prospect of a successful cup run leading to a tie against one of the Premiership big boys.
