Donovan Ricketts is back in training with City.

The Jamaican goalkeeper has been crocked for six weeks since breaking a bone in the top of his left foot.

Ricketts has missed the last ten games after suffering the injury in a challenge with Rotherham striker Deon Burton.

But he has stepped up his recovery by returning to the training ground with goalkeeping coach Jim Montgomery.

"We will see how Donovan goes but he is starting to do a bit more," said Colin Todd. "He's been out for a considerable period of time but all of a sudden there can be a significant improvement. But obviously we have to monitor his progress carefully."

The injury has been another setback for Ricketts, who was kept out by the form of Paul Henderson until the final four games of last season.

Having begun the new campaign as Todd's first choice, he has been forced out of the picture once again with Russell Howarth given an extended run.

Ricketts could have an outside chance of featuring in the West Yorkshire derby on Monday. If that comes too soon for the giant

shot-stopper, he will be hoping to push Howarth for the trip to Port Vale a week on Saturday.

With the extra time to prepare for their next game, Todd has turned up the heat in training sessions this week.

He said: "Monday was a surprise for the players because it was very physical. But having a couple more days between matches has given me the opportunity to put on more demanding sessions.

"That's not been possible lately because we've had a number of midweek games and there have

also been one or two little niggles knocking about."
